During lockdown, Open Country has been thinking of ways to bring the outdoors indoors for our members who are missing getting #OutThereTogether with us. We’re delighted to have launched our first ever series of audio walks, aimed at those who are missing their countryside walks or anyone who wants to enjoy a wildlife walk from the comfort of their sofa. Sit back and enjoy the colours, sights and sounds of our wanders around Yorkshire!

Enjoying the Aire Valley with Tom

Tom’s wonderful wander around the Aire Valley, just six miles from Leeds city centre, but a world away from life’s current challenges. This walk takes Tom through woodland, farmland and by the River Aire and he has some magical close encounters with wildlife.

Tom’s climb up Rawdon Billing

Join Tom on his all time favourite walk up Rawdon Billing, a tree-topped hill just five minutes from his home.

Ella’s heritage and wildlife walk around Middleton Park

Ella’s walk criss crosses the 450 acres of Middleton Park in Leeds, exploring the grassland and ancient woodland, just 4 miles from Leeds city cente.

A woodland walk with Tom at Hunger Hills

Tom takes us on a 5 mile walk down memory lane around Hunger Hills near Horsforth. You can hear the joy in his voice when he spots a Massey Ferguson tractor!

Ella’s family walk around St Ives Estate

Join Ella, her Mum and dog Rosie on an evening stroll around the Country Park on the outskirts of Bingley.

Tom’s stroll around Eavestone Lake

Tom takes us on a 5 mile walk featuring farmland, woodland and moorland in a secret spot on the fringes of the Nidderdale AONB.

Until we can get #OutThereTogether again, let us bring the wonders of the Yorkshire countryside to your door.
