Can you help us in our quest to collect seeds for our tree planting project?

We need people to collect the seeds of horse chestnuts, sweet chestnut, oak and beech trees and send them to our Wakefield project so that our members can grow new trees! Last year we planted over 4,000 trees and this year we want to beat that target by planting these seeds from scratch!

A great activity for kids and grown ups alike, we’d like you to collect as many of the seeds as possible, bag them and label them and drop them at our collection ‘wheelie bin’ at the bottom of the Rose Garden at Thornes Park Nursery in Wakefield. Alternatively you can post them to Ella Dixon, Open Country, Thornes Park Nursery, Thornes Road, Wakefield, WF2 8QE or drop them at Harrogate Community House, 46-50 East Parade, Harrogate, HG1 4LT.

We’re also looking for large plastic bottles we can turn into planters – they can also be dropped off (washed please!) at our wheelie bin.

Be quick! we need to get as many seeds as possible before the squirrels gobble them all up!

Thank you!
