Open Country’s Barnsley Project Officially Launches!

With thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund’s Know Your Neighbourhood scheme, Open Country have been able to start a new satellite project from Wakefield in Barnsley district.

The two-year funding has allowed us to recruit Bob Mawson, our new part-time Barnsley Countryside Activities Officer. Bob has already been out with our Wakefield Outings and Tandems groups and after just one month in the post, he is already making some great contacts in South Yorkshire.

We are keen to fill our upcoming taster days with new volunteers and disabled members. If you live in Barnsley or know somebody who does why not give Bob a call on 07446 130777 to find out more?

Our first Taster Dates are as follows:

Tuesday 15th August – Tandem Cycling Taster (6pm – 9pm)

Saturday 19th August  – Weekend Outing to Cusworth Hall & Gardens

Wednesday 6th September – Walking Group Taster

Sunday 17th September – Watersports Adventure Taster Day at Manvers Lake

Saturday 30th September – Weekend Outing to Ponderosa Farm and Crow Nest Park
