Sandra and Millie visiting Staveley Nature Reserve, Summer 2020

We are delighted that our long standing member Sandra, agreed to feature in this wonderful article by CPRE – The Countryside Charity, highlighting the importance of countryside access for all. Read all about Sandra and her adventures with Open Country, with her assistance dog Millie by her side.

It’s not always plain sailing getting our members out into the countryside and anyone who accesses the countryside has to accept that whatever measures you put in place, there’s still an element of risk. But we believe that everyone, irrespective of ability or disability, should be able to access the countryside and enjoy being in nature, both for its intrinsic value and for the wide range of well-being benefits.
